名実ともにシーンを牽引する存在となった英のプログレッシヴ・ロック・ バンド、アナセマ。ポーランドのクラクフで行われた1996年のショーを収録した初期のライヴ・アルバム。【CD+DVD】
『A Vision of A Dying Embrace』は1996年にポーランドのクラクフで行われたAnathemaのライヴを収録したものだ。楽曲はバンドの最初の2枚のアルバム（『Serenades』『The Silent Enigma』）とEP『Pentecost III』からとられており、その中には、「A Dying Wish」「Sleepless」「Mine is Yours」などの名曲が含まれる。Anathemaは英リヴァプールで1990年に結成されたオルタナティヴ／プログレッシヴ・ロックバンドだ。1993年、Peacevilleより ファースト・アルバム『Serenades』をリリース。1996年のサード・アルバム『Eternity』あたりからその音楽性を変化させていき、 1999年にはMusic For Nationsへ移籍後初となるアルバム『Judgement』をリリースする。その後、Music For Nationsの閉鎖 にともない、バンドはポスト・プログレッシヴ・ロックを中心に扱うレーベル、Kscopeへ移籍。2010年にはアルバム 『We're Here Because We're Here』をリリースする。2012年には9枚目のアルバム『Weather Systems』をリリース。このアルバムは高い評価を獲得し、ヨーロッパ各地でチャートにランクイン。2014年の『Distant Satellites』、2017年の『The Optimist』 はともにUKトップ40ヒットを記録し、『The Optimist』はProgressive Music Awardsでアルバム・オブ・ザ・イヤーを獲得した。
