現在のスウェーデンのブラック・メタル・シーンの中でも有数のアクトであるValkyrjaは2004年に結成された。2007年のデビュー・アルバム『The Invocation of Demise』で基盤を作り上げた彼らは、セカンド・アルバム『Contamination』という最強の作品で自らを確立させた。元々はMetal Blade Recordsより2010年にリリースされた『Contamination』はNecromorbus Studio（Watain、Mayhem）でTore Sjernaによりレコーディングされた。この10周年記念盤はリマスタリングが施され、「Oceans to Dust」「Laments of the Destroyed」のライヴがボーナス・トラックとして追加されている。
